Deutsche Version | Home page of the institute
The institute is in the same building as the Arithmeum. It is located in the centre of Bonn, at the southern corner of the Hofgarten park, only a few hundred metres from Bonn Hbf (main station) and the downtown pedestrian precinct. It is easy to reach by train, by car and by airplane.
From Bonn Hbf (main station), it is a 5-minute walk: go to the bus station
(ZOB) next to platform 1, then cross Kaiserplatz and walk along
Am Hofgarten until you reach the institute (the red building
marked "Arithmeum" on this map).
There are signs which point you to the Arithmeum.
To find out about schedules of national and international
trains to Bonn Hbf, use the
DB timetable
query page.
Please note: drivers are strongly recommended to leave their car in one of the public car parks (marked "P" on the map). The "Universität" car park is close to the institute; it is located at the northern corner of the Hofgarten park and can be accessed from Adenauerallee.
If you approach Bonn from the north (from Köln, Düsseldorf etc.) via the A555 or A565 motorways: follow Bonn-Zentrum. At the Verteilerkreis Bonn (Potsdamer Platz), take the second roundabout exit and follow Heinrich-Böll-Ring, which will be renamed to Thomastraße. After 1km, you will have to turn left into Am Alten Friedhof (left edge of this map). Follow Berliner Platz and Oxfordstraße. At the end of Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz, make a right turn into Belderberg (B9). After passing under a baroque building (Koblenzer Tor), you are on Adenauerallee, from where you can immediately make a right turn into Stockenstraße to access the "Universität" car park. (To reach the institute building itself, take the next right turn instead, which is Am Hofgarten.)
Otherwise, if you approach Bonn via the A562 motorway, take the very last exit (named Bonn-Zentrum), then make a right turn into Friedrich-Ebert-Allee (B9). Follow this road for 4km (it is renamed Willy-Brandt-Allee and then Adenauerallee). Before you would pass under the baroque gate (Koblenzer Tor), turn left into Stockenstraße to access the "Universität" car park. (To reach the institute building itself, take the previous left turn instead, which is Am Hofgarten.)
