For the following modules of the Master's Program Mathematics, courses are offered
on a regular basis by the professors of the Research Institute for Discrete Mathematics:

Lecture "Combinatorial Optimization" (module number: V4C1):
This introductory lecture is held every winter term and designed for students in their first semester. It comprises four hours and complementary two-hour exercises per week.

Lecture "Approximation Algorithms" (V4C2):
This four-hour lecture with two hours exercises is offered every summer term and should be attended during the second semester.

Lecture "Chip Design" (V4C3)
This four-hour lecture with two-hour exercises is held in the summer term as well. It is designed for students in their second semester.

Lecture "Advanced Topics in Discrete Mathematics" (V5C1):
This consolidating four-hour lecture is designed for students in their third or fourth semester. There are no exercises.

Lecture "Selected Topics in Discrete Mathematics" (V5C2):
This special two-hour lecture should be attended during the third or fourth semester. No exercises.

"Graduate Seminar on Discrete Optimization" (S4C1):
This seminar is held every summer term and should be attended during the second semester.

"Graduate Seminar on Applied Combinatorial Optimization" (S4C2):
This seminar is offered every winter term and should be attended during the third semester.

"Practical Teaching Course" (P4G1):
In this tutorial course, the tutors supervise participants in the exercise groups of bachelor lectures.

Practical Training "Combinatorial Algorithms" (P4C1):
This practical training course is devoted to the implementation of combinatorial algorithms. It is offered every summer term and shall be attended during second or fourth semester.

Practical Training "Algorithms for Chip Design" (P4C2):
This practical training course is offered every winter term and designed for students in their third semester.
Successful participation in the exercises is an absolute requirement for permission for module examination where exercises are offered with the lectures.
The semester numbers mentioned above refer to a start of studies in the winter term. Should you take up studies in the summer term, the modules V4C2 or V4C3 are recommended as a start, according to background knowledge.
Apart from the lectures mentioned above, the bachelor modules "Kombinatorik, Graphen, Matroide"
and "Lineare und ganzzahlige Optimierung" can be used the module "Foundations of Discrete Mathematics" (F4C1)
for the master's programs.

Of course, it is also possible to set the focus on Discrete Mathematics
and to write a master's thesis (T5G1) at the Research Institute
for Discrete Mathematics.
The Master's Thesis Seminar (S5G1) is also offered regularly.
